Natural Remedies: The Recipes

Coughs

Coughs are common, especially during cold and flu season. These can be relieved by a few different means and all naturally of course!

One option is using honey. Either by itself or mixed in tea, honey soothes most sore throats almost instantly. 1/2 teaspoon of salt mixed in with a glass of warm water also helps, but don’t drink it, just swish and gargle with it!

Another remedy is to steep 1 tablespoon of dried or 1 teaspoon of fresh Thyme in 1 cup of water for 10 minutes. Strain and drink.

Sinus Cold

A sinus cold is the worst. You feel groggy and sleepy and your head feels as though it suddenly weighs 100 pounds. Sinus colds most often come with a headache due to the pressure in your sinuses. If you can relieve the pressure or congestion, you will feel 100 times better.

Garlic and cayenne powder are known to relieve clogged sinuses quickly. Mix 1 cup of tomato juice, 1 tsp. minced fresh garlic, 1/4 tsp. cayenne powder, and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Warm over the stovetop or in the microwave till warm and drink slowly.

Some studies have shown that using cannabis for nausea can be beneficial in helping to suppress feelings of nausea and discomfort. When it comes to cannabis products, there are a whole host of products to choose from (edibles, vapes, and CBD is just a few examples of what’s out there) so the chances of you finding something that suits how you like to take medication is pretty high.

Cancer

Prevention is key here. Although there may be cures naturally for cancer, they definitely aren’t public. In the meantime, try to prevent it by eating and consuming foods that contain; garlic, turmeric, cloves, cinnamon, and oregano. All of these are known to help prevent and fight off cancer cells.

Acne

Acne is an unsightly skin condition that can be flared up for a large number of reasons. And acne does not just affect teenagers either. Acne can affect anyone and at almost any age. Menopausal women and even pregnant women can suddenly suffer from breakouts of acne.

Using herbs such as rose water, lavender, aloe gel, calendula, echinacea, witch hazel, and dandelion can treat acne. Combine any or all of the herbs above and rub them on the face where pimples are for relief and treatment.

Allergies

Allergies are another ailment that attacks at any time and at any age. Runny eyes, runny and itchy nose, and congestion or cough are all common allergy symptoms and they are all no fun at all.

One way of finding relief from nasty allergies is to use Black Cumin Seed Oil. Rubbing this oil on the forehead can reduce a runny nose and nasal headaches! This oil usually comes in capsules and can be taken as a supplement. The best part, no side effects have been found.

Chamomile can stop the runny and itchy eyes and symptoms of allergies. Simply make chamomile tea and drink it up to five times a day.

Migraines

Many people suffer from migraines and if you are one of them you know that any relief is better than none. There is hope though. Did you know that using Cayenne powder can relieve migraines?

Mixing cayenne powder in food and drinks can prevent and even alleviate migraines. Just add a small amount to whatever you are eating. You can order cayenne pepper powder online or simply dehydrate your own home-grown cayenne peppers in the dehydrator that run them through the food processor until a powder form is achieved.

Fever

Most people are aware that cool packs under the knees and armpits can reduce a fever, however, there are other options as well.

Linden flower, found in health food stores can reduce a fever. To use as a tea, steep 1 tablespoon of this dried herb into 1 cup of water for 15 minutes and drink. Your fever should diminish fairly quickly.
