You Can Solve Problems

Being self-reliant means that you have the ability to solve problems for yourself. When you are self-reliant you think for yourself and make decisions that are best for you and your situation. You trust your instincts to make the right decisions.

This does not mean that you must do all things alone though. It is ok to ask for help. Knowing when to ask for help and learning skills from others is necessary sometimes and can be rewarding too.

You Become More Confident

One of the greatest benefits of self-reliance is the confidence you gain on your journey. Every skill you learn increases the way you feel about yourself and your abilities.

The more you do and learn, the more you increase your self-worth. In other words, the more you learn, the better you will feel about your ability. You will believe in yourself on a whole new level.

The higher your confidence, the more you will try new things with a positive mindset. And with a positive mindset, you can accomplish more.

You Accept Responsibility

You learn to accept responsibility for the tasks that need to be accomplished. When you know you must depend on yourself to accomplish tasks you tend to work harder and smarter to get things done.

Accepting responsibility directly relates to building your self-confidence in a positive way. In building that self-confidence you also build on your ability to trust in yourself.

You Embrace Being Alone

One of the benefits of self-reliance is the ability to welcome being alone. You learn to like yourself and learn how to be good enough. When you feel good enough to do something yourself you no longer need others to accomplish something.

You will still enjoy company, friends, and family, but you view your alone time as quality time and enjoy the quiet. Although you may enjoy the company, you will not need the presence of others to make you happy.

The more time you spend alone, the more you learn about who you really are and what is important to you. It helps you to decide what you want out of life and what matters most. You become your own best friend.

Another benefit of self-reliance is having the ability to not allow material things to become needed for happiness. Instead, you will achieve happiness in your state of mind, with your accomplishments, and your growing self-worth.

You will learn to appreciate more the fact that you can grow your own food, heal and treat your family through emergencies, and live a fulfilling life. Material things will become just “things”.
